The 2022 Needham Caucus Zoom meeting, which will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 for the purpose of electing delegates to the Massachusetts State Democratic Party Convention, which will be held on June 4, 2022 both in person at the DCU Center in Worcester and virtually.
Please register early. If you have multiple household members, please
(1) register individually (not share their registration);
(2) use a computer (as opposed to a phone) if you can;
(3) have one person per device.
VOTING AND RUNNING: to run as a delegate or to vote for delegates, you MUST:
(1) be a registered Democrat residing in Needham, and
(2) not have publicly opposed the nominee of the Democratic party in the last election cycle.
You SHOULD:
(1) be willing to spend all day at the convention on June 4, and
(2) be willing to pay the $75 convention fee promptly (or seek a financial hardship waiver).
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR THE PRIMARY: To qualify for the primary ballot for the Democratic primary election to be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, candidates must receive at least 15% of the votes at the Democratic State Party Convention.
The Needham Caucus will open for caucus participants beginning at 9:30 a.m. Participants will continue to be admitted until 10:15 a.m., when sign in for the caucus will end.
This 10:15 a.m. cutoff is a hard caucus sign-in cutoff. Anyone signing in after 10:15 a.m. will be permitted to attend the Caucus as a guest, but will not be permitted to vote for delegates to the Massachusetts State Democratic Party convention or to run as a candidate for delegate to the convention.
The caucus is open to the public, so anyone can attend as a non-voting guest.
IF you plan to run as a delegate, please email needhamdems@gmail.com — this is not required, but may help in running the caucus.
